The Educational Concept
The concept for the classes, workshops, and camps of the Bright Minds Academy are based on three
pillars, which complement each other. All newly added classes and workshops include at least one
pillar, whereas the invention workshops and camps are based on all three pillars.
The first pillar stands for the various techniques and exercises to enhance creativity and brain activity.
These exercises stimulate multiple senses and are of great fun. They are not taught within the school
setting. General brainstorming exercises are used to broaden the vocabulary and to enhance the
thinking speed. Mastermind techniques are also part of this pillar. They are widely used, for example,
by professional athletes and are a means to acquire a positive, persevering, and success oriented
mindset.
The second pillar stands for the inventing process. It's the teaching of the nuts & bolts of this art while
applying on an own invention idea. Each workshop sequence is focused on one (or more) invention
competitions for kids. The goal is to have the students submit at least one idea to a competition. This
can be either as an individual submission or as a team submission. Depending on the invention contest
there will be either drawings required or the building and testing of a model.
The third pillar encompasses brainstorming services for businesses, organisations, and individuals in
form of our "Rent Young Bright Minds" idea. Together with the kids we're brainstorming solutions to
given problems as well as new product and marketing ideas. This is a great opportunity for them to step
into the shoes of various enterprises to train the entrepreneurial viewpoint and gain entrepreneurial
skills. They learn about insights, principles, and successful tools of marketing experts and first class
entrepreneurs such as Jay Abraham, Rich Scheffren, and Jane Switzer, to name just some. The
businesses, organizations and individuals we brainstormed for is quite diverse and spans from an
upgrade fitness studio to a funeral home, from the Humane Society (Delaware, OH) to an international
cookie manufacturer, from a homeschool children's choir to the County Fairgrounds (Delaware), from
the World Checkers Champion (and now also First Olympic Checkers Champion), Alexander Moiseyeva,
to the Chief Police of Delaware, OH, to name just some. The results have been thoroughly positive so
far.
